So it looks like enough gadget developers complained about what Google did that they decided to restore the user preferences to how they were before, which means Flickr Nugget can work ok again. They didn't promise that it would work forever so Flickr Nugget can go down at any time, but for now at least it's working again so that's nice.

This happened because Google is constantly working to add new features to iGoogle, and it's hard to maintain old functionality while adding new stuff, especially when the old features were ones that weren't exactly how they intended their product to be used (they prefer gadgets to be done in javascript vs server side code, which I use). As a software developer, I certainly understand and accept that.

Two more things: it may take a while before you start seeing all your old user preferences again, because of Google's caching system. I think by Saturday morning my time (I'm in California) everyone should have them available, so just wait for a little while if you don't have your preferences. You may have to set them again.

Also, I added that little NOTE link to the top. I'll keep it there for a few days, but if you want to get rid of it I added one more temporary user pref. It should be the very last one, "Show Note". Just set that to "no" and the note should disappear.
